RIK - WEST SUSSEX

Rik is 41/2 years old and sadly looking for a new home due to a change in his owners circumstances.

Rik is castrated, microchipped and vaccinated.

Rik is said to be good with children although he doesn't live with any, there is a young child at the daycare he attends. We would recommend older children.

He is a little picky with dogs, somes he likes others he does not. He is said to be ok with cats as they have thjem at daycare. This is hearsay and he hasn't been seen around cats.

Rik is fine on a lead, he can be a little reacrtive and does like space. He does have a reasonable recall off lead butr this would need to be built up with any new owner. The volunteer was met by an exciteable young man who was very keen on her sausgaes !! He can nip when excited around high value treats and toys but no deliberate aggression was seen.

Rik has had 4 homes already, 3 of them before he was 10 months old. His current owner has done everything she can and has worked hard with him. He sesnes that something is amiss and is a little anxious.

Rik can be left for 4 hours. He goes to the groomers every 3 months where he is bathed but has not been bathed at home.

Rik is extremely strong willed and very intelligent. He walks well on a lead, whilst out the volunteer met another dog who was wary of Rik but Rik didn't react, a bunch of kids on scooters and he took no notice.  Whilst he has been desensitised to many things he is not a lover of the lawn mower, brooms and electric tools etc.

Rik loves to train and learn and sadly at present isn't getting the stimulation that he needs. A busy home is what he would like with people who want to spend time and do things with him.

Rik does suffer with EPI Top 5 Things To Know About EPI In German Shepherds It is not life limiting, but also not cureable. Rik is on medication and this keeps him stabilised at a good weight and happy. We have a wealth of knowledgr with rescue as have had many dogs with EPI who have gone on to live long happy healthy lives.

Please don't let this put you off he is still deserving of his forever home.
