Shadow is just a young 10 month old little girl looking for a new home as the owmer has deteriorating health issues.
Shadow is vaccinated microchipped but unspayed. She will ne under a neuter contract for when she is old enough.
Shadow is good with children, she lives with a 9 year old and often goes to school to collect the chiuld mixing with friends.
This is what the volunteer has to say:
Shadow is a beautiful young dog with plenty of energy and an easy-going temperament.
When I arrived, Shadow was sitting on the dining table looking out of the front window. She did not bark as I walked to the front door, just came to say hello when I entered the property. She was very friendly and just wanted to have a fuss. No barking or signs or nervousness. During the time I was with her shadow just wanted to play and would bring toys to play tug with. She responded well to treats and picked up some basic commands very quickly (owner has not done any training with Shadow so she did not know the basics). She will be very easy to train in this area.
Shadow is on the smaller size for a GSD and a little underweight but overall, in good condition, no problems found with teeth, ears joints etc.
Shadow has had no lead training and does pull on a lead although with a little time spent with her, she did walk fairly well after a while. She has been used to being walked on a long retractable lead and allowed to do her own thing. With the right training Shadow will respond well, and I see no reason why she can’t learn to walk nicely on the lead.
Overall, Shadow is a young, energetic untrained dog. She will need time to train her from the ground up. This should be easy with the right approach as she is very food-orientated indoors but not so much when out as too much going on and was easily distracted. This is likely caused by lack of walks as she only goes out once or twice a week now. When she sees other dogs when out she will bark and tries to get to the dog. She is not reactive, this is just wanting to meet the other dog and play which she is rarely able to do.
All in all, an easy dog in the right home. She will need plenty of time spent with her to work on the separation anxiety so would not recommend a home that would want to leave her on her own from the start.
A definite no to cats or small animals that will run as they will be chased and caught which could result in injury or worse.
She would benefit from a home with another dog especially to learn from and for company.
Is this young lady for you ?????
