Eastern Region – Rogue is a Neutered Mali and is 5 years old he came into kennels in the North Kesteven Area of Lincolnshire on 24/11/2022 where he has lived since with no adopter interest.
Rogue is a friendly, lively boy, who loves people and cuddles, he gets very excited to go out for a walk and tries to grab the lead. Rogue went through a stage where he would get so excited at going out for a walk from kennels that he would pass out, thank fully this stage appears to have stopped now.
Dave, Pete and I took Rogue out yesterday for a country walk and a run in the off-lead paddock. Rogue happily got into Dave’s van and ignored Leo who was in the adjoining crate.
Pete took Rogue and set off for a walk, Rogue likes to try and grab the lead and entangles himself into knots if you do not keep your eye on the ball. Rogue’s excitement means he starts pulling and entangling himself, so was walked at a very slow pace with sit down breaks to keep him calm and improved his demeanour so he was then able to have a sniff and relax. Rogue has a sit, down and beg command and he takes treats nicely. Obviously Rogue would settle right down if given a home and more exercise both physically and mentally.
We do like to put a harness on Rogue, but he does not always comply to our wishes. Rogue ignored Dave’s bitch Kelly and Leo who he could see but not reach.
Rogue enjoyed the paddock, and he went on the ramps and climbing apparatus and loved the freedom out of kennels.
Rogue deserves a home of his own, with an owner who has GSD/large dog breed experience, and can give Rogue time, patience, exercise, boundaries, and a loving home. Due to Rogues breed, he probably has a prey drive for small furry animals.
If you would like to adopt Rogue and give him a space in your life, please complete the adoption form on the link below. You will be given a home check.
HISTORY
Rogue is a 4-year-old neutered male, he is quite small.
We are looking for somebody special to give Rogue a forever home.
Rogue originally belonged to an inexperienced couple where Rogue only respected the male owner and sadly the female owner feared him after he had nipped her. He was fine with the young daughter who was only 6.
When Rogue arrived at the kennels they couldn’t get near him. Rogue is a reformed character and can be handled by anybody even women. He looks forward to his walks with our volunteers and doesn’t mind meeting new people.
Our volunteers take him out for walks where he can be a little nervous and can jump and twist on his lead. He is walked on a harness and slip lead. He doesn’t react when he sees other dogs.
He is powerful and highly driven by food and toys which you would expect for this breed but that means he will be very easily trained.
We are looking for an active home experienced with Malinois/German shepherds who can give him the physical and mental stimulation he needs. He will need to start again with basic training as he has developed anxieties and bad habits.
We will not rehome him with young children or other pets. He would chase a small furry animals.
