Riggs - Northamptonshire

Poor Riggs

Our assessor described Riggs as 'a fantastic dog' and loved his playtime with him. Sadly, Riggs is not best suited to his present home as he is, basically, a timid boy and he is too nervous for this busy household. His owner loves Riggs dearly but wants a quieter home for him, where he can thrive.

Rigg's issue is that he suffers from megaoesophagus, and this is exacerbated by stress. The condition is manageable, and Riggs is trained to use his chair, as an eating aid. Basically, the condition is an enlargement of the oesophagus causing difficulties in eating and digesting food. He needs to have food and water elevated

His owner has written a good summary of Riggs below:

"Riggs is still an excitable puppy but is very eager to please, he is very loving and follows you around. He can be left alone for long periods.

He has used local dog walkers and gets on well with others, however other dogs often show signs of aggression to riggs. He knows basic commands and loves playing fetch, exercise is limited because of his weight.

He cannot eat anything unless he is elevated. He is good with the children but  has to be watched closely if they have food. He is very food driven and due to his strict diet, he does scavenge a lot. He will take food at any opportunity, which will then make him sick.

Lead training is still in progress.

Riggs is on a raw diet which works really well as he doesn't need to eat as much and doesn't need to drink so much either, water also needs to be elevated."

It was not possible, due to the weather, to walk Riggs. Our assessor was very taken with this gentle pup and thought him 'fantastic'. Are you a special person? Will you take on this needy boy and let him live his best life?
