Police Dog Jake

Jake makes the grade with North Yorkshire Police

Congratulations to Dave and Jake

dave the policeman and new recruit jake the german shepherd

Earlier this year we were asked to rehome Jake a young male German Shepherd. When Jayne from the rescue went to assess Jake, she new immediately that he was special and that he would probably make a good police dog.

North Yorkshire police were looking for dogs and although they were reluctant initially to travel all the way up to Scotland, they were persuaded that this was a dog not to miss.

So Jake went off to do his training and this month he was officially licenced as a police dog with the instructor that licenced him calling him 'excellent'.

Jake is a wonderful example of a well bred shepherd with all the right characteristics that the breed should have - as well as being a handsome devil too.

Sadly the forces find it very hard to find the right type of dogs because the breed is being spoilt by indescriminate breeding. There are many unscrupulous people that breed purely for profit with little thought to what they are breeding. So it is a real pleasure when we find a fine example like Jake here.

We at the rescue would like to wish Dave and new recruit Jake a long and successful partnership.

We know that they will do a great job of enforcing the law in their area. Watch out you criminals!!
