PARIS - LONDON

Paris is a big, fluffy snowball of good-naturedness. Sadly, she's also heartbroken and needing a new family that is able to provide her with the companionship, love, and exercise she needs.

Paris has lived in the same household her whole life, but a few months ago rer main carer died. Since that time she's lost confidence; I was told she doesn't enjoy going out very much, she's become wary out on walks, and often just1asks to go back home. She'll need someone to rebuild her confidence and love of  life.

Currently Paris lives with another small dog ( that wasn not in the same room during the assessment)Iwe were  told they get on well and that Paris will  let the smaller dog take toys or food from her. The household used to be 3-generations of humans - mum, daughter and granddaughter. Mum was always home with Paris and was the main person who walked her. Since mum's death, her daughter is struggling to cope with a big dog: Paris has pulled her over a couple of times, so she's become nervous - Paris weighs 42kg, the daughter is small.

They live in a flat on the 4th-floor. Paris is not getting walked properly and I suspect not even getting many toilet breaks (she was desperate to go the moment we stepped outside on the walk with me). There are issues for the current owner with the stairs to get the dogs in and out - she says she can't manage both together, and Paris is understandably a bit over-excited when she does finally get to leave the flat, so rushes the stairs. Paris has had a few wee accidents in the home when left home alone, but she wasn't previously left, this could alos be a stress response.

Inside the home, Paris is just lovely. She's gentle and friendly. She barked when I turned up, but let me into flat happily and quickly made friends, backing into the volunteer for back tickles. She relaxed happily on the sofa. She took a treat very nicely: She has very long hair that's currently a bit out of control - she needs grooming/regular brushing.

Out on a walk, Paris was keen to go! She was calm and walked fine on the lead wearing a halti head collar. Paris was happy with humans passing close by her on the pavement and not at all fazed by traffic. We saw a lady with 2 dogs and pulled over to the side to let them pass. Paris jumped forward towards the dogs with a little bark. There is no issue providing Paris is given the distance she needs. The owner said this kind of lead-reactivity towards other dogs is normal for her, but says when she's off-lead, she's friendly and plays with all dogs, big and small. Note she plays noisily and boisterously!

We also passed some children - on a tricycle and in a pushchair. Paris seemed a bit anxious and side-stepped away from them. The owner says this is a new normal for her, but she's not sure why this anxiety around small children emerged as previously she was very good with small children. It's coincided with the time her mum passed.

Paris is only 4. She's gorgeous, sweet-tempered, and really deserves a lovely home. She'd thrive I'm sure with company, a garden, walks to go on, time and attention. She could live with another dog, subject of course to introductions.
