GSD Neglect Case 2
Zena - Cruelty case
Write up from the place where she was taken as a stray
1586 – ZENA – CAME IN THURS 28.2.13 – TIME UP THURS 7.3.13 – GSD female black and tan, on pain relief and antibiotics, had open wound to head, went to vets, cleaned and stitched, emaciated, weighed 18 kg, but on 5 small meals per day and putting weight on, got back dew claws which hang, will probably need to be removed, sweet natured, loveable, friendly, happy girlie, coat poor condition, needs a good groom, about 4 to 5 years looking at her teeth, but temperament makes you think she is a puppy, gives lovely kisses.
This sad case came to GSDR today and has gone into kennels. She has been given the name Zena but she doesn't respond to it yet so it's obviously not her real name. Zena is quite small for a shepherd but she has a wonderful temperament in spite of her ordeal. She loves people and seems fine with other dogs. She is not cat tested yet. We have no idea if she is spayed or not. We believe she is around 4-5 years old.
We urgently need a foster or permanent home for this girl where she can enjoy some TLC. She needs feeding up as she is so underweight and she smells disgusting so needs cleaning up.
This is Zena - that's the name given to her by the kennels where she was taken as a stray
She is an absolute sweetheart, just wants cuddles yet it appears that she has been treated appallingly by humans. If only this little dog could talk and tell us what has happened to her.
Zena had a large gash on the top of the head when she was picked up
Having now met Zena, it looks as if she has been deliberately hit on the head with some force. She has a number of other smaller wounds which haven't required stitching and are now healing.
The wound has been stitched now
Sadly, it is unlikely that the person(s) responsible for treating Zena so badly, will ever be caught or punished as she was picked up as a stray and she is not microchipped and nobody has come forward to claim her!
Zena is in pretty poor condition
Zena is quite small for a German Shepherd but she only weighed 18Kg when picked up as a stray.
Very neglected coat
It has certainly been a long time since this little dog has received any attention, her coat is atrocious and it hides her very underweight frame.
This little girl needs lots of TLC
Zena really loves cuddles and we would like to see her in a home as soon as possible.
Zena desperately needs a home after her ordeal
If you can foster or offer Zena a permanent home, please fill out an adoption form
