LUCY - KENT

Lucy has spent her life living in this isolated home with a 2 acre garden. With ageing owners she had no training as such, but has lived a life with a sensible set of boundaries. As a result this is a lovely natured girl - inexperienced in the world outside the home, but great with the many visitors that come to the home.

On arrival Lucy behaved beautifully. She wanted a minute’s attention before then heading off to get a ball. She is ball obsessed - but will only exchange a ball. I imagine retrieving a tennis ball from the garden has been her exercise routine for some time. She wandered off to another room while we did the paperwork. Encouraging her to go on a walk around the vast garden on the lead needed a treat - but once lead was on she wandered ahead. She has never had lead training so will need work. She walked fine in her very familiar environment.

When taking photos I did experience some mouthing as she wanted to play - but no pressure and nothing unusual had she been a younger dog. She is used to getting a treat to do anything - so while not an easy dog to train at 6, there is a good chance of success. In a like -for -like home she would fit in very quickly and be a delight to live with. She will bark at moving vehicles that come to the property - I feel a lack of exposure to them. A little overweight perhaps - otherwise looking very healthy. Occasionally has a unexpected wee when excited.

In summary - a beautiful 6 year old who has spend her whole life enjoying a 2 acre garden with her ageing owners. Following the death of the owners Lucy is now looking for a new home. She has a lovely nature - welcoming to all and wanting to play ball. With such a big garden she has not had a routine of going on walks - so is inexperienced on the lead - but given her change of circumstance is now getting a bit more exposure to the wider world. She has lived with another dog as a pup - and shared a home with cats. With such a lovely nature she should be in high demand. She could move easily to a home with the freedom of a vast secure garden - anywhere else she would need an intestine training regime. Nothing she couldn’t handle
