Meet Kimbo
Kimbo is a 10-month-old neutered male who is looking for a new home after his owners lost confidence in him after he growled and mouthed a stranger when he was 5 months old. The owners say he has developed an issue with people outside the family.
He was castrated at 8 months old (advice given by a dog trainer). Kimbo has been to a variety of dog classes including puppy classes and 4 weeks of residential training. Kimbo loved the training he received and didnt mind being touched. He was obedient when he returned home but returned to his issue of being touched by a stranger.
He is not reactive towards strangers while out on his walk and he loves to play with other dogs. He can be protective over his ball and food.
He is currently living in a campervan with his owners.
When our volunteer met Kimbo to do the dog assessment, the owners bought him out on a lead and he was barking at our volunteer. When our volunteer showed him a cocktail sausage he stopped barking and sat down when he was told and took the cocktail sausage gently. He allowed our volunteer to throw his ball and he would drop it for them to throw which he loved.
He allowed our volunteer to rub under his chin after giving him treats. He never growled.
He is housetrained and will look at the door if he wants to go out.
Our volunteer said he is a well-mannered dog in the short interaction they had with him. He will thrive in an experienced home. He had lots of potential and is brimming with enormous energy and would like a garden to run around.
