Kenzo - West Yorks

Kenzo is a very handsome 6-year-old entire GSD looking for a new home. This is what our volunteer said when she went to assess him. Upon arrival at the property, Kenzo was in the backyard. He was excitable but nonverbal, with no barking or fussing, when he saw a new person in the yard. When I let him out of his kennel, he was very inquisitive but non-threatening and could clearly smell the dog treats I had in my bag. He's very good at following commands. Sit, paw and very gentle when taking treats. Kenzo currently lives in a very built-up area with lots of passing foot traffic and busy roads.

He is currently walked on a prong collar and walks very well at heel; when given his release command, he did not try to pull away and stayed close. Whilst walking, we passed adults and children of all ages; there were cats on the street but no other dogs. But there was lots of very heavy traffic, and none of this seemed to faze him. Kenzo was very interested in treats, and I believe that, with the right owner, reward-based training would work very well. Since he can move away from the prong collar they currently use, there are videos available showing him out walking. 

Kenzo will probably need to be an only dog, although he has been around children, but caution would be needed due to his seizures/epilepsy, which he is on medication for. (Vet report available). Overall, he seems a lovely dog, but I'm not sure what his true nature would be like without a prong collar; the owner advised he just pulled. He will need a confident owner willing to put in the work and get him up to optimal strength, but it would be great for him to be back inside a home, and then his epilepsy could be monitored.
