FEN - KENT

This boy has to be URGENT 

We were asked to visit and assess young Fen who will be 4 years old in May. He is microchipped and entire. 

Fen is good with children of all ages. 

He is said to be good with dogs, has never had a fight .

Lives with a bully of a cat who puts him in his place but will chase cats in the garden.

On first meeting Fen is a well adjusted, tall, bouncy boy. The owner called him into the kitchen to meet the volunteer with no hesitation - where he sniffed, gave a small bark and behaved as well as you could expect a GSD.

Fen has not been walked for at least 6 months - but does have a biggish garden. He spends 7 hours a day in the crate - a place he loves. But - not what is needed. He hasn’t been to a vet because of the costs - with flea treatments bought from Amazon. The skin issue has been there for at least 18 months - with the owner thinking it stems from friction around her separation from her partner. 

Finn has had no training as such - yet is balanced and well behaved in the home with the owner and her young daughter. On the walk he was so interested in smells he had missed for so long he was never going to pull. On a regular walk the volunteer anticipates he would do so. He ignored cars and people he passed. They met two small dogs - one mouthy. Fen pulled towards them - excited and interested. But low reactivity for a dog that has not been out for a while

In summary: Following a relationship breakdown Fen needs a new home. He has a lovely nature - calm but playful. Good with visitors and children.  He has not been walked for 6 months - relying on a large garden for exercise. He spends far too much of his time alone in a crate. He has had a skin problem that will need further attention to resolve - and that resolution will not progress until he finds a new forever home

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS BOY. He desperately needs out to get him the attention that he needs and start to live the happy life he so deserves.
