Junior-Leicester

Meet Junior

Junior is a 7-year-old German Shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. From the moment you walk through the door, he’ll greet you with a wagging tail, his favourite toys, and an eagerness to make you feel welcome. He’s a friendly, affectionate boy who thrives on human interaction and simply loves being part of the action.

Personality & Temperament

Junior is a gentle, sociable, and playful companion. He isn’t over-the-top or boisterous, but he does love attention and will happily encourage you to join in with a game of ball if you’re too slow to notice him! He’s very people-oriented and forms strong bonds with his humans, making him a wonderfully loyal addition to the right home.

He’s fantastic with visitors and has even helped people who were once nervous around dogs grow to love him. Junior is affectionate, enjoys fuss, and is comfortable being handled all over.

His Ideal Home

Junior is looking for a home where he won’t be left alone for long periods. He’s happiest when he has company and would love a family who can include him in their daily lives.

    •    Could live with older children (due to his size and playful nature)

    •    Would prefer a home without cats or small animals

    •    Could potentially live with another dog, but introductions would need to be managed as he can be a little selective

An owner with experience of German Shepherds (or similar breeds) would be ideal, though he doesn’t have any major behavioural challenges.

Exercise & Training

Junior enjoys his walks and is generally well-behaved on the lead. While he can get a little strong or excited at times, he is manageable and responds well to guidance. He may occasionally react to other dogs or motorbikes, but he can be redirected.

    •    Knows several commands and is a smart, trainable boy

    •    Enjoys off-lead time in secure areas (recall can be selective!)

    •    Loves playing ball and interactive games

Health & Care

Junior is in good overall health, though adopters should be aware of a few minor considerations:

    •    Suffers from seasonal skin allergies, managed with daily antihistamines

    •    Slight stiffness noted in a back leg (something to monitor)

    •    Up to date with vet care

He is clean in the home, non-destructive, and doesn’t bark excessively.

Home Life

Junior is housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go outside. He travels well in the car (just gets a bit excited!) and is generally calm and well-mannered at home. He can be left for several hours, but he would much prefer not to be and may spend that time waiting for his people to return.
