Hunter - Leicestershire

HUNTER: A HUGE OPPORTUNITY

The chance to adopt Hunter is a huge opportunity, in more ways than one. He is a truly big boy who, according to the vets, weighs around 73 Kgs. It is also a very unusual opportunity. Hunter is massive, but happily, he is mostly a sweet boy, who is used to being gentle with children and who lives happily with a rabbit. (It is said that the rabbit is the dominant one) Hunter is unusually sweet natured, because male Caucasians of this size can be bad tempered and dominant. He even greets visitors, when introduced very politely, and is up for hugs and kisses from them.

Is this too good to be true?

Well, all of this is so, but then Hunter is a Caucasian and, true to his breed, he will guard. He is a fierce protector of his own property and can be difficult to control, when out. He shows every sign that he could attack any approaching strangers. He walks well on a lead, but it would be impossible for one person to hold him if he decided to actually attack someone. It seems likely that this aggression is an extension of his territorial guarding, as it is said to be more pronounced when nearer to his home. Be aware that this behaviour means that, in the wrong hands, Hunter is potentially a danger to himself and the public. This big boy needs an appropriate home and an experienced owner.

Hunter is very typical of his breed. He is not, in fact, very bothered about being walked. He would be happy to meander around his own territory all day long. We are told that he prefers to be outside, and he seems impervious to cold or wet weather. This is what he was bred to do. And guard he will. Any new home must have very secure boundaries to ensure Hunter's safety and that of the public as well.

Hunter has not lived with another dog, but he might well do so happily. There is video evidence of him having played sweetly with a small poodle and he has mixed happily with several dogs at a time on group walks. He seems to be happier with smaller dogs and possibly regards the larger ones as threats. As if!

Who could refuse this adorable gentle giant? Well, please do not apply if you live in suburbia. Hunter is looking for a country home with land, where he can ramble around fossicking or sleeping his time away. Here he will be happy. He gets very stressed by fireworks or loud noises and the pressure of urban living would be too much for him. And you wouldn't want that, would you?

Who can give this gentle giant the peaceful country life that he deserves?
