Holding Tarantula Fundraise

Raising funds for GSDR by holding a Tarantula!!

There's scary and there's too scary for words. These brave ladies really went that extra mile and overcame their terror of spiders to raise £275 for the rescue.

Friends conquer spider fear - as featured in The Dudley News

TWO brave Netherton women came face to face with their worst fear by holding a tarantula in the name of charity. Kirsty Love, from Baptist End Road and best friend Lisa Clark, aged 31, of Bank Road, who are "absolutely terrified" of spiders decided to hold the furry eight-legged creature to raise money for German Shepherd Rescue UK.

The animal lovers, who have nine dogs between them, including a rescued German Shepherd, took part in the sponsored challenge at Prestwood Petzone, on the A449. Despite sobbing throughout, both women managed to hold the tarantula, raising over £275 for the charity.

The look on Kirsty's face says it all - aaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Kirsty, aged 27 said: "It was awful and the tears were streaming down my face as it moved on my arm, but Lisa loved it, even though her heart was beating like crazy. "But we did it and we were really pleased to raise £275."

Is it over? It is now girls, well done and a massive thank you from all of us at GSDR

And Kirsty is already thinking about a further fundraiser for German Shepherd Rescue UK and is setting her sights on a bungee jump next year - despite being scared of heights.

Kirsty and Lisa, we cannot thank you enough, brilliant and well done. We need more people like you so that we can help the rising number of dogs coming into rescue.

Kirsty, anyone who ties themselves to a bit of elastic and leaps off a platform is NUTS!
