HEIDI - ESSEX

Young Heidi was originally bought into rescue as a welfare case when she was a mere pup.

She was snapped up by her current owners who now 5 years later need to have her rehomed as she is too much for them. Sadly now she is not exercised as she is too strong for her owner and she has no one who can help.

Heidi was barking and jumping up at the door on the volunteers arrival. She has nbeen known to open levered doors. She was held back to allow entry and continued to bark. The voluntter got out the treats and that was it best friend for life. Heidi settled whilst the paperwork was completed.

Heidi took the treats given very gently and she loves a ball.

When it came time for the walk, it took a while to get her ready. She wouldn't have the halti put on so the collar was tightened so it wouldn't slip off a lead put on and Heidi literally bolted out of the door. She was interested in everything, sniff after sniff after sniff. Sadly she has no lead discipline so this will need to be worked on. Nothig was really seen whilst out. She didn't react to people and cars passing, she was interested in a coupke of kids on bikes but happy to walk on. The cat sunbathing on the driveway didn't run so she was happy to walk past.

WSe are told that she reacts to everything that passes the house. She tries to get to the door before the owner. Whoever takes Heidi needs to teach her a command to stay away from the door. . Her current behaviour will stop with consistency of any adopter.

Heidi is NOT a confident dog, and sadly does not live with anyone who can help her overcome her fears. They are also nervy which has instilled a fearful behaviour in her.

Heidi really needs a calm confident patient home who will NOT RUSH her. Someone who will understand that less is more. Give Heidi time to watch and trust and come in her own time. and she does not need anyone to feel sorry for her.

She does not need to be overwhelmed with attention, She could live with an older calm confident dog that could lead her. Her fear is ingrained and she will never be big bold and brave but with some effort she could gain in confidence and look to her new owner for the confidence that she needs

She is said to be reactive to dogs when out but we don't think it is aggression, more that she has never been shown how to behave and definitely not been socialised in her latter years. As a pup she interacted with the neighbours GSD's.

Heidi is a sweet girl who needs far more than she is currently getting, in the right patient hands she will blossom
