Harry Older GSD

Harry - Mature German Shepherd

Harry came into our care in August of this year. This lovely old boy had a death sentence on his head for barking too much when left alone. He is fantastic with people but not good with other dogs. How old do you think Harry is? You will have to scroll down to find out!

Do you think older dogs should be overlooked and forgotten about in favour of younger dogs? That attitude, unfortunately, condemns many older dogs to death or spending the rest of their days banged up in a kennel, unwanted and unloved.

This is the lovely Harry before he came to us

Fortunately, GSDR believes that all dogs have the right to a nice life, no matter what their age. So at his grand age, we would not let him be put to sleep and arranged for him to go into foster care immediately.

Hunky Harry - what a stunner

He has been enjoying summer days on the lawn munching bones and playing with his toys.

Harry really is enjoying his retirement and has even been to Devon for a long weekend a couple of weeks ago where he met chickens and geese as well as lots of pheasants!

No that's not his halo slipping, just his favourite frisbee toy.

Harry apparently carries monkey everywhere!

Harry on holiday where he waded in the stream and played on the beach. He is healthy and has put on a couple of KG so looks a lot better too (especially after a good brushing!).

Where's everybody gone?

This is great mum!

His new mum says 'Harry loved his holiday, had a great time though I think he is still recovering from all the excitement!'

I love my new home

So to all those people who come to rescue and state that they don't want a dog over a few years old because they can't face losing a dog - tell that to Harry!

Harry doesn't look old, he doesn't behave elderly and he is having the time of his life thanks to his new mum and dad. Thankfully, they are not ageist.
Have you guessed his age yet? We are going to SHOUT IT

Harry is 14 YEARS young and enjoying life!!!

Thank you to his new mum Allison who really does understand what rescuing a dog is all about. It's not about size, shape, coat, colour, sex or age - it's about giving a needy dog a forever home.
