Duke is a friendly and confident 3 year old boy who is on the lookout for a new home. His previous owner sadly passed away, so Duke is now living with a member of the family but he has become too boisterous for the young children in the home.
Duke a typical young GSD - he's playful and confident and due to the lack of boundaries and being left to his own devices during the day, he basically behaves like a big puppy. When our volunteer went to meet Duke, he jumped up and barked and wanted all the attention to be on him. He is not too keen on being told 'no' and will mouth and take what he wants.
Duke is good with other dogs, especially when off lead, but his recall can be a bit hit and miss so this needs to be worked on. Our volunteer found him to be food driven and Duke was focused on them when they went for a walk, so this would be a good place to start doing some training with him and redirect his energy !
All Duke needs is a confident handler who can put some time into his training, establish some boundaries, and provide him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
