Dexter - North East

Dexter is a gorgeous 3 year old boy in need of a new home as his owner's health is sadly keeping them from caring for him.
Our volunteer went to meet Dexter and found him to be a happy, friendly dog. He will bark and occasinally jump up at visitors in excitment but soon settles. He is very good in the home and is used to being left for a couple of hours. He's a clever boy who knows all basic commands.
When on a walk, Dexter pulls a little on the lead initially but calms down eventually. He likes to keep his nose down and sniff everything, but he does listen to his handler. He does react to other dogs, for which he has been seeing a trainer and is making good progress. With further training and guidance from his new owner, Dexter will keep improving and learn to ignore all other dogs.
He has pretty good recall off the lead although this is if there are no distractions around.
Dexter has never lived with children, and though he is very friendly, due to his big size and giddy nature we will not rehome him with children.
We don't know how he is around cats and other animals.
This big lad has a lot of love to give and simply needs a home with someone who can give him plenty of attention and go on nice walks.
