This lovely lad is sadly looking for a new home through no fault of his own.
The volunteers arrived to lots of barking at the door. He settled very quickly and introduced himself. He doesn't jump up. He only barks when people arrive at the house, typical shepherd wanting everyone to know tmore hat he is there.
He is not happy around young children but could be rehomed with teenagers who have an understanding and respect for a large dog.
He mixes well off lead with other dogs and has a 90% recall..... the occasional moment where he becomes hard of hearing as there is probably something for more exciting to see. He is extremely food driven so this will really help when bopnding and setting boundaries in his new home.
We will not rehome with cats.
Dexter is fearful of loud noises thunder and lightening and also fireworks.
He will happily share his toys and has no issues around food.
The volunteers found a very handsome boy waiting to greet them. He walked well on a lead with a halti. They passed several dogs and although he showed interest and pulled he only reacted when a dog reacted to him. He was easily distracted and carried on.
Dexter is very much loved but sadly after 2 years of trying he doesn't like the young grandchild and is becoming more anxious around him therefore the owners feels they have no choice but to rehome
If you can offer Dexter his retirement home please get in touch. You will not be disappointed.
