Meet Cobus

Cobus is a 5 year old entire male working line German Shepherd who is looking for a new home due to his owner’s work commitments, which mean he is currently being left alone for long periods during the day.

Cobus currently lives outside in his outdoor kennels, although he does come into the house during the day when his owners are home.

He is vaccinated and microchipped and is house trained. When he needs to go outside, he will let you know by whining.

Cobus has never lived with another dog and can be wary of larger dogs following a previous incident where he was attacked. He does not like cats, so he will need to be the only pet in his new home.

He has previously lived with older children aged 10 and 15.

Cobus is used to being bathed every two months and travels well in the boot of the car. He is currently fed wet food mixed with biscuits and shows no food or toy aggression.

He isn’t a fan of visiting the vets and can become quite anxious, whining and sometimes urinating.

Our volunteer’s assessment

When our volunteer arrived at the property, Cobus was outside by the patio door. He greeted them with a wagging tail and did not bark. Once his owners let him inside, he was very pleased to meet our volunteers and came across as friendly and welcoming.

Our volunteer then joined Cobus and his owner for a walk. Cobus was calm and relaxed on the lead and did not pull. During the walk, he saw a small bully type dog but showed no reaction.

His recall is reasonable, and he knows several commands including sit, wait and down. He also responds well to non verbal hand signals.

Our volunteer described Cobus as a happy, friendly and calm dog who was a pleasure to spend time with.

As Cobus is a working line German Shepherd, he will need an experienced owner who understands the breed and the physical and mental stimulation that working line shepherds require

Cobus is looking for a pet free home where he can receive the companionship, structure, exercise and attention he deserves.

With the right experienced home, this lovely boy has so much to offer.
