CHASE - SURREY

We were tagged in a Facebook post someone asking for help with a stray GSD with only 24 hours left before being PTS.

We responded and this young man Chase came into our care. He was found dumped in a residential street. His rescuers took over 2 hours to restrain him. They feel that he was running up and down the street waiting for his owners to return.

Kennels reported that he was destructive, but this could have been down to stress and some separation anxiety

Moving forward he has been in foster for about a month, so we now feel that we have a proper assessment of this lovely boy......

We believe him to be about 18 months old. The volunteer thinks he is an absolute delight. On her first visit when he had been there a couple of weeks he was a little grumbly when she entered but very keen for attention, he does jump but didn't nip. On the second visit she introduced herself and family through a baby  gate and all was good.

He loves to play ball and will bring it back and drop it to have it launched again. He has a reasonable recall in the garden, but to date has not been off lead when out.

He seems to be a little guardy of his home and family, so this is something that will need to be worked on.

It would seem that he has had little training. He definitely needs work on introductions with both humans and dogs away from the home, walking on a lead, he does that going round you in circles, and as he hasn't been off lead his recall.

That was last year. We found a foster home for Chase who love him to bits but cannot adopt him. They have taken him to training and have been trying to work through his issues, which in the main are reactivity to other dogs and wary of strangers in the home. It has been shown that he can meet other dogs without reaction if done in the correct way.

We think that he would benefit from a quiet home with set boundaries and his owners being consistent in their training, so he understands and doesn't get confused.

Do you think that you can offer Chase a fabulous home, a lovely boy who would need someone around most of the time, A quiet home with only a few visitors until he feels totally comfortable in his surroundings and with his new humans

This young lad has been let down in life and needs time to trust and patience with his training
