Bruno – Norfolk

BEAUTIFUL BRUNO

This lovely baby is being rehomed through no fault of his own. He is the victim of tragic family circumstances. He is a lovely young dog. This is what his assessor says about him:

"Bruno at first looked like a young GSD but outside looking at his face, particularly around the eyes, it is clear there is some Malinois. He is a young dog just 18 months old. 'Happy and enthusiastic' best describe him.

He is very easy to handle - look in his ears, look in his mouth, handle his paws etc. He has been taught to give his paws. The owner does not clip his nails, but I don’t imagine that would be too difficult. He has his teeth brushed and he likes the toothpaste.

He is a well-adjusted dog, lively, playful, gentle taking treats and well-mannered for his age. He knows simple commands, sit, lie down, bed, give paw, come etc.

When walking to the common I did get him walking fairly well beside me. Until there was a small dog we saw, it was behind us, which he ignored until it started screaming abuse at him. The owner made no attempt to control the small dog and in fact he released the retractable lead almost seeming to encourage its behaviour. Bruno did lunge somewhat excited though it was not aggressive and easily controlled. He quickly resumed his previous good behaviour.

He can be strong on the lead but that just needs a little gentle instruction and perhaps a dogmatic. Apparently, he walks quietly on the way home after his run. We also met another small dog on the common who was also off lead, Bruno invited to her to play with a play bow. She was interested at first then had a grumble at him so he left her alone. We also met a man on the walk who was interested in Bruno and Bruno was very friendly with the stranger. When playing outside more interested in his toy than treats. A toy is used to encourage his recall. He likes playing in water.

He is bouncy but that was in a very small living room. Outside and running loose he is much less boisterous. He can get a little anxious if left so he sometimes barks but is growing out of that, particularly if left with something that smells of his family.

Would I take him home? Yes in a heartbeat if I didn’t already have a pair of dogs.
I think he would like an energetic home with sporty people if possible."
