Bella - West Yorks

Bella is indeed, a beautiful, gentle giant.  She is very loving and whilst I was there, wanted constant fuss and attention. Whilst trying to type, Bella continued to paw me, nudge me and then lick me.

Bella appeared very headstrong, to which the owner agreed. He told me she does what she wants when she wants.  If she gets too much, he now just needs to show her the cane and she goes down!  This is their way to control her.

As Bella has not been on a walk for over three weeks, I offered to take her out.  Initially, I was surprised how well she walked.  We saw a couple of dogs at the other side of the road, Bella stopped and wagged her tail.  With a gentle nudge, she carried on walking.  We went right around the estate and she seemed to enjoy sniffing everything.  As we turned a corner, I saw a ginger cat, within half a second, my nails snapped.  Fortunately, they were ready for cutting anyway!  She took no notice of me whatsoever, Bella was totally fixated on getting the cat.  As I held on for dear life, realising that the cat was gone, Bella settled back in to the walk.
On an evening, the owners need to keep their curtains closed, as she would bark at everything that goes past.  I was told that she is an excellent guard dog.
Bella is a wonderful, loving girl, although not for the faint hearted.  I feel that she would thrive in an environment where she could run and let off some steam.  Another family member visits with a Shitzu, whom Bella is very gentle with. She is also very gentle with their four year old granddaughter, who stays over frequently. Finally, Bella is very food orientated.
