Bella - North East

Bella - North East
Sadly Bella is back looking for her forever home. She’d spent several months in rehab and then was adopted and went to live with a wonderful family who have really moved forward with Bella, although it’s now evident that a quiet home with no children would more fit the bill. Information below is what her current family had to say :

Due to a few unforeseen circumstances, we have made the decision we feel is in the best interest of Bella, and ourselves, to have her go to a home that can better suit her issues. She has come a long way since first getting her, but I will list a few issues I  believe to be something I hope will be avoided, and looked into carefully as far as training goes moving forward. We feel Bella is best suited to a home with no children, or children who are 16 years or older. She still maintains good manners on walks, she has not lunged at anyone, or any other dogs on walks/hikes. The problem area is when someone enters your home. Due to COVID, this makes working on this issue quite challenging, and we had success doing careful introductions outside of her territory/home. We have not and do not rough house (play rough with her), and recommend that sentiment is carried on through to whomever does adopt her. She loves the beach, hikes, and walks. She has an extreme chew Kong ball that she lives for. She will run alongside your bicycle if you take her out on one. She will not pull you down, or react to the bicycle at all. She is very reward/treat driven, so it's a great tool to use for her training. She knows, 'sit, stay, down, wait, crate, come, paw (both). She is still working on the no jumping on guests (at times). She does bark to alert you when someone is at the door, she stops once you've closed it. We have had to leave her a few times for a few hours, and our neighbors reported no barking while we were gone. She does still chase cats, so we would suggest a home with no cats. She sleeps in a crate at night with no issues, she's never had an accident in it either. We tried her on raw diet, she preferred the kibble, so that is what she is on. We believe (and feel the rescue can attest) that her continuing to sleep in a crate at night is best for her moving forward. After a long discussion, we feel it is in her  best interest, and least selfish to let her go to a more suited adopter. We hope whomever adopts her, will give her all the best that we wish for her.
