Meet Bear, a stunning 8 year old sable male. Bear needs a new home as the other resident dog is resource guarding and starting fights with him, making him quite anxious and unhappy.
Our volunteer went to meet Bear and found him to be a friendly but nervous dog. He can bark and jump up at visitors at first but soon settles and loses interest. This beautiful boy prefers to keep his distance and mind his own business around strangers.
Bear pulls a little on the lead when he goes for a walk but soon calms down. He doesn't react to people or dogs he sees when out and about. He is good with dogs and either ignores them or likes to play. He is used to being off lead in a field and enjoys playing ball. He also tends to chase shadows rather than engage with the outside world. This is probably how he copes with some of his anxieties.
Bear is very good in the home, he is housetrained and is used to being left for several hours every day. He has lived with young children and doesn't mind them at all although we are looking for home where he can just chill. Bear cannot live with cats. He's a clever boy who knows all basic commands such as sit, lie down, stay, speak etc...
This lovely boy has a lot of love to give and is looking for a fairly quiet home where he will be given some time to unpack his suitcase and get used to his new surroundings. He will make a great, loyal and easy going dog for any family.
