Apollo-Bedfordshire

Meet Apollo

Apollo is a 2 year-old entire male looking for a new home with an experienced owner who can provide clear, confident leadership. He will benefit from returning to basic training and transitioning to a healthy, balanced diet to help him reach an ideal weight.

Apollo is being rehomed following an incident involving the child in his current home. He had lived with the child for two years without any previous issues. The incident occurred when the child attempted to take a bone away from Apollo and he reacted by nipping. The nip did not break the skin, and the child did not require any medical treatment.

Apollo can be “protective” of his family. During his assessment, he was wearing a muzzle and on a lead when our volunteer arrived. He barked initially but was wagging his tail throughout and was happy to be stroked by the volunteer.

Due to the hot weather, our volunteer was unable to take Apollo for a walk during the assessment. His owners report that he pulls on the lead and can be reactive towards other dogs, although he has never been involved in a fight. Apollo has never lived with other dogs or cats, so he is looking for a pet free home.

Apollo could live with older children who understand and respect dogs and who have experience with the breed.

Apollo is microchipped and has restarted his vaccinations.

He suffers from travel sickness on long journeys.

Can be left alone for short periods

He is currently being fed Pedigree Chum because he does not enjoy dog biscuits

Apollo is currently underweight and would benefit from a more nutritious diet and weight gain

Apollo has plenty of potential in the right home. With experienced handling, consistent training, and appropriate management, he could make a loyal and rewarding companion.
