Zeus Cruelty Case GSD from Shanghai

Zeus Cruelty Case from China is Coming to The UK

My name is Zeus. I am now the only survivor out of the 3 of us destined for the UK. Unfortunately, my friends, Mufasa and Derek didn't make it. However, the first 2 boys Mandy posted about Ted and Rex did find forever homes with their foster parents who are now the official parents. I, however, am still waiting for that to happen to me. Read and share my story to help me finds a forever home. It's Anna and Mandy's' dream to get me into a loving home with a family who can give me what I have never experienced and that is LOVE.

Zeus boarded his flight on 14th May 2016 to fly to the UK

When I was found, I had this big thick chain embedded in my neck which had caused a painful weeping wound.

zeus the gsd was found with a thick chain embedded in his neck

Can you imagine having a thick, metal, rusty chain embedded in your neck? Every movement you make causes you pain in every minute of every day? Can you imagine being tied up outside, with no shelter from the heat or from the cold and being fed scraps?

The chain that had to be removed with bolt cutters

bolt cutters had to be used to remove the terrible chain

Can you imagine ALL of this and then being abused as well? A stone thrown here, a kick there? Well, Zeus knows. This was his existence as a guard dog in China. His life was a living hell. When Zeus thought things couldn't get any worse, they did.

Deep painful infected wound caused by the chain

the wound in zxeus' neck was infected and painful for him

He was thrown away like a piece of rubbish and ended up in the place where dogs are sent to die. Not peacefully with a swift injection that would make him fall asleep, but to be locked in a room with no food and water, an eternal misery. And then the Gods smiled on Zeus. He found freedom, a minuscule chance of life. He was rescued from this place. Bolt cutters cut open the wretched chain around his neck, this object which had tortured him so. He received medical treatment to heal the deep cut around the entire circumference of his neck. Zeus was then taken to a dog shelter, where conditions are desperate. Limited staff and limited knowledge of shelter management meant that every day he spent there risked disease. He had to spend day after day in a small kennel without being exercised.

Again, for Zeus, the Gods smiled. A promise of love came from across the world with an invitation to live in the UK! Miraculous for Zeus and a lifeline for a German Shepherd living in a country where their very existence is illegal in a home environment.
Zeus moved into a boarding facility to prepare him for his trip overseas.

Is that a smile Zeus?

Zeus failed the first blood test required for import into the UK and had to wait another two months before he passed the test that would give him a new life. Zeus is UK bound!
