German Shepherd Dogs in the north east looking for homes
Please do not overlook taking on an older German Shepherd dog looking for a home. They have the same right to a nice home as younger dogs.

Coco

Coco (on the left) is aged about 3 years. We don’t know her background, but in the kennels she has been no problem whatsoever; she is friendly, gentle and gets on with the other dogs. We think she will be a lovely dog for the lucky adopter.
Roxy

Roxy is a 4-year old bitch, spayed and vaccinated. She is very friendly towards people including children, great with other dogs and OK with cats. Currently in kennels because her owner is very ill. A thoroughly nice girl who seems to have no vices, she will be a terrific companion.
Zimba

Zimba 8 years castrated and vaccinated and micro chipped his owner has had a stroke and he was handed into the pound where he cried for days and wouldn’t eat. He is very affectionate and needs someone to give him a loving home to live out his days. He is a lovely dog and very affectionate once he gets to know you, loves playing ball fine around other dogs very gentle nature good off his lead he as settled really well with us but needs to be by the fire in a good home.
Hamish

Hamish is a 4 year old neutered male. He gets very excited and tends to jump up, he just needs someone who can spend time with him, training him properly. He is probably better off in a house with older children as he can get very giddy. He is a big dog and very timid until he gets to know you. He is very strong and pulls on the lead.
Tibar

Tibar castrated vac and chipped very quiet loves toys and being brushed likes other dogs but not sure about cats. He doesn’t like children of any age. He used to go to doggy day care and was very good .
Sheba

Sheba is a 6 yr old Black/Tan bitch she is not spayed she is vaccinated and booster due July. She is a little nervous around strangers but once she knows you she is playful & Friendly. She is not sure around children so would be best in an adult home. She is currently in the Bradford area.Sheba is fine with other dogs. But we don't know about cats as she has not been around them. She will make a very nice faithfully pet.
Arnie

Arnie is a very loving, faithful and affectionate dog. He learns quickly and only wants to please. His recall is really good and he has now started to play and really enjoy himself. Arnie is one of those dogs that when you get that bond going you just trust him. He likes his food and has a lot of kind and friendly ways. The kind of owner for Arnie would have to have an understanding of the breed as he is a very typical German Shepherd. He needs to be introduced to strangers with caution so therefore going for a walk in the local park wouldn't be suitable. He would need to be placed in a home that wouldn't be busy with visitors and could go for a long walk where he wouldn't meet lots of other dogs, having said all that he is learning to be more tolerant. Arnie is worth considering he would be your loyal guardian for life.
Kane

Kane came to us from the pound his days were up and if we hadn't taken him he would be sleeping with the angels now. We know very little about Kane but we would age him at around 5 yrs old and is a little overweight but we feel that is due to lack of exercise. He is fine on the lead but does not like going back into his kennel. He would maybe be best placed with no children or at least young children simply because we do not know his back ground. Also someone who is going to be firm and show him leadership. He is entire.
Charlie - neglected and unwanted

Charlie about 7 years we think lovely nature , very gentle , doesn’t like to go far quite happy to go at his own space. Very interested in things that move ie cats and sheep although does not appear aggressive towards them. Does not like a lot of fuss affectionate when he wants to be. Fine with people of all ages. Good off and on Lead. Someone coming on Wed from France to see him .
Max

Max is a very large fit and active dog. He is very affectionate, barked when I arrived but as soon as I sat down just sat on my feet and wanted cuddles. The owners partner died a few years ago and since then she has struggled to cope with him. She said he pulled a lot on the lead and that was causing problems with her declining health. I walked him on a 'dogmatic' (similar to halti) and he walked like a dream. I didn't meet any dogs while out with him but he apparently lunges. He has previously lived with a dog, but has been the only dog in the home for a few years. No cats and older children only.
Jessy

Jessy, left tied up for days in a wood , micro chipped but left messages and so forth for the owner to no avail. She is very gentle and affectionate good with other dogs chases cats . very good when being groomed . She is very clever can open doors and anything that contains food. She loves people and talks to you in her own way will make someone a loyal pet. Not very clean in her kennel but has been better recently since being groomed. She is now in a foster home, and doing very well. living with other dogs.
Derrick

Derrick is 4 years old and a really handsome lad, he is neutered and vaccinated. He's not great with other dogs, although did live with a bitch in a previous home. Needs to be in an adult home. Not lived with cats but doesn't show any concern when neighbouring cats sit on the fence. He is really friendly once he knows people, just brings his toys to play. He is in urgent need of a loving home due to changing circumstances.
Storm

Storm has been a lovely boy in kennels. He is flighty, jumping and has a little nibble at hands, but is just happy to be out. Storm has a lot of nervous energy, and is clearly showing signs of being stressed at being in kennels. Food isn't much of a motivation, but the sight of a lead certainly attracts his attention. An active home would be preferred to burn off all this excess energy.
Smokey - NE

Smokey has been no problem at all since he arrived, and loves just lying around in the runs. That is apart from when he is playing football with the volunteers. He does need work around other male dogs. However on the other side he is infactuated with a female dog called Lola, and they have even spent time in the run together off lead. Smokey has been good around people, no matter who has walked him, and apart from the one issue with another male dog, has been a real star.
Goal

GOAL, he is a 10 yr old entire male. Black & Tan long coated which needs some attention. He is not up to date with vacs. This boy was very friendly when our volunteer visited. He is good with children as he lives with 2 aged 6 - 8 yrs. He is housetrained used to being kept in doors. We feel that Goal will make a very good family pet. Due to owners circumstances Goal is not getting much exercise and is being left all day. If taken for a walk he pulls at first just we feel needs some training. Goal has never shown any aggression to anyone, owner not sure what he is like with other dogs as she doesn't walk him very often just runs in the garden. This boy deserves a nice home with someone who will give him the attention he needs and they will have a great pal.
George

George is a very young active 9 yr old entire male. Whilst I was there is played in the garden happily the young child age 2 yrs ran about and George wasn't bothered with him at all. He is good with children of all ages.Due to the added pressure of work and the twins George is not getting the attention or exercise that he needs therefore the owners are reluctantly parting with him. They have had him since he was 2 yrs old. He is not good on the lead pulls this I feel is because he is not walked enough and is so excited when he goes out he doesn't know how to walk steadily. We don't know what he is like with cats as he has never lived with them. He is ok with other dogs pulls to see them but most people pull away with their dogs. George will be fine but if the other dog growls at him he will react. He is vac. till Sept. He goes into kennels when family go on holiday and they say he is fine whilst in their care. I found him to be a very friendly dog, needs some lead training, but I think he will respond to a firm but kind handler. He has a clean bill of health, never been ill.
