German Shepherd Dogs in the north east looking for homes
Please do not overlook taking on an older German Shepherd dog looking for a home. They have the same right to a nice home as younger dogs.

Cassie

Cassie is a 6-year old, is a lovely natured, neutered bitch who let our volunteer in the yard without a problem then played ball with him. She is very thin and the current owner has only had her 6 weeks having taken her from a friend who was having relationship problems and Cassie was obviously being neglected. We are confident she will make someone a very loving pet who like all GS will require regular exercise but obviously the first priority is to build her body weight up. We are told she is good with children, other dogs and cats
Bruno

Bruno is handsome 3-year old, whose owner is not confident enough with him and won’t allow him near her child . As a result, the dog senses the uncertainty and doesn’t know what is expected of him. He is entire and in need of socialisation / training, but was OK when our volunteer walked him. Bruno needs an experienced owner who will give him some direction and stability in his life. Given the circumstances, we would not rehome him where there are small children.
Earth
![]()
Earth is a very frustrated large black and tan long coated entire dog. Due to his owners ill health he never gets out of the house other than into the garden where he is driven crazy by next doors staffy. He is a stunning dog but will need some work. He is so bored at being pent up all day inside that he is overwhelmed once he's out. Just wants to sniff everything and see everything at 100 mph. Owner says he is OK with female dogs. A very highly strung dog who needs to get out of his current situation and fast for his sake and his owners. He needs a very committed person with plenty of time to take him on. He will be a great dog if the work is put in.
Beany

Beany came to us because his owner faced eviction if the dog was not removed from the rented premises. He is a calm, friendly 3 year old, who loves just pottering about and doesn’t seem very interested in other dogs. He has lived with children and been fine with them. He is house trained and is fine when left. Currently in kennels in North Yorkshire, where our priority is to get some weight off him through a proper diet and exercise.
Prince

This big, striking boy is 5-year old Prince, abandoned by his owners as ‘surplus to requirements’. He was kept in a yard, so he has not been socialised and, therefore, not good with other dogs. He seems friendly enough when he gets to know you, is very energetic and delights in playing ball. His owners said he is good with children, but we would not rehome him in that situation. We were told that he is vaccinated, but we have no papers. Entire and rather underweight.
Lucky

We have named this poor girl Lucky as she was saved from Death Row. When she arrived at our kennels in North Yorkshire, she was very traumatised, but we are happy to report that she is responding to kindness, although the sight of a lead freaks her. We think she is aged about 4 and is a very pretty long-coated Black and Tan. She is beginning to trust the kennel staff and follows the owner everywhere. She does not seem bothered by the other dogs. Given the right home, we are convinced she will become a very friendly and rewarding companion.
Alfie

Alfie, a neutered 3-year old, is in need of a home where he will get the time and attention he deserves. His owner suffers from a degenerative back condition, which means Alfie is not getting exercise or socialisation. He’s a typical GSD who barks at the arrival of visitors, but soon settles and is then friendly. Fine with other dogs if introduced properly, but does need more exposure. He has been vaccinated previously, but his booster is overdue. Microchipped. Not lived with children so, although he OK with them, we would not rehome with younger children.
Zorro - comes complete with cape and mask!!

This is big, handsome boy, Zorro, aged we think about 15 months. Yet another poor lad saved from Death Row. He is entire and is not a full GSD, but not far off! Very friendly and affectionate, he gets on well with the other dogs in kennels too well with the ladies! He is an easy dog who loves his walks and is good on the lead. We think he will make a nice pet, but because we don’t know his background we would not rehome him with small children.
Ben

Ben, with one floppy ear is about 2 years old and neutered. He is very friendly and loves cuddles and being groomed. When he came to us his coat was very matted and we had to shave his back end and tail, but it’s regrowing nicely. He doesn’t get on with the other dogs in the kennels, but is otherwise well-behaved. Wormed and flea-treated. Currently in kennels in North Yorkshire
Tye

Tye, is a chunky lad of about 3 years.we are guessing as he is another found and in need. He seems very healthy, but his coat is in need of a good grooming. He is a terrific dog, extremely friendly, loves being with people. Not sure yet if he is entire. We will add more when we have him settled into our kennels.
Tyson - the boy is BIG!!!

Tyson is 24 months old he is in foster home at the moment and very much loved he has settled in very well .With the foster's two other dogs. But I must say he has been taught no manners, but is learning very quickly, he has no recall when let off his lead and will try run away. He did pull on the lead but now walks nicely on a harness. He did try to be top dog when he arrived he still would like to be and he is now pushing with owners male boy who is of similar age, he is fine with the bitch for this reason he need to be an only dog or with a sensible female. He is very loving but he will need to be homed with someone who has had experience with this breed. Because of his size we will not home where there are small children as he could knock them over her has not been around children. He does not like cats and would more than likely chase poultry. He is castrated, but only very recent, this could account for why he would like to be leader. As far as we are aware Tyson has never shown any aggression towards any one, Although he is now showing a little food aggression, hopefully this will be sorted.
Mosey - loves his ball

Mosey is not a pure GSD he will be 9 yrs young in June he is castrated. He did live with his owner at a care home. He had not had contact with young children but since going into our kennels has and loves to play with his toys. But we still think an adult home would be best for Mosey. Mosey has been loved and well cared for, unfortunately his lady owner is ill and that is the only reason for parting. Mosey was afraid when he arrived at the kennels but he is now fine and can be taken out and let off lead he comes back when called. We are not sure what he is like with other dogs in the past he was not taken out much. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the other dogs in the kennels. This boy deserves a chance to get back by the fireside and enjoy life to the full,he loves nothing more than to play with his toys he carries an old football everywhere he goes, so please don't over look him, he may not be pure GSD his mother was a full GSD go and visit him and see what you think after you have met this boy. Mosey is in kennels near Harrogate.
