Troy - Teesside

Troy is a lovely dog with bundles of energy in a home that isn’t able to meet his needs.

He is extremely high energy and needs an active home with lots of time to devote to him. He is not a dog who will tolerate being left alone for hours. I would also say that physical exercise alone won’t cut it, he needs to use his brain. He would really benefit from sniff and search or similar.

He has had very little training so I think he will benefit from starting from scratch with everything. He’s an incredibly bright boy who is very food motivated so will be very easy to train in the right hands. When out for a walk he did look back for direction which also suggests that he is very trainable. A couple of dogs barked at him when out walking and he barked back but was very easy to redirect with treats.

He did bark at a man across the road and lunged at a cyclist who got too close to me so this will need to be managed carefully as he has demonstrated protectiveness with his current owner in the form of barking at men. He needs a confident, experienced owner who can let him know that he doesn’t need to take care of things as you are the one in control so he can relax and enjoy being a dog!

He has no issues with touching and examining him and his current owners say he loves being groomed.

This boy just craves attention and in the right hands will be an absolutely cracking dog. He was very loving after a walk and wanted lots of cuddles but he can get silly and jumpy if the excitement levels are too high.

He needs a calm environment with older children only to ensure that he doesn’t get too excitable as this results in him jumping and nipping. He most definitely needs an active home. A couple of half hour walks a day won’t cut it for this dynamo!
