Sergeant - Newport

URGENT REHOMING

Sergeant is a 7-year-old castrated male who has been with his current owner 18months having previously been owned by a family member who didn't have much time for him.

Sergeant is a tail chaser which his current owner puts down to the boredom and frustration when he was in his previous home. However, no amount of time or playing with him has resolved this problem and he has become very protective over his tail.

His current owner has 6 children who are clearly stressing poor Sergeant as he chases his tail more when they come home from school.

He is a loving, beautiful dog and his owner thinks he would be much happier if he was somewhere where he had space to run around and get rid of some of his energy and not be cooped up in the house.

He can be wary of strangers although he was fine with our volunteers. Initially, he was in his crate because the owners were expecting our volunteers and he barked constantly so our volunteers told them to let him out. He ran over, had a sniff and a look, wasn't reactive at all and wasn't bothered at our volunteers being there.

They took him for a walk and he does pull on the lead but otherwise, he was fine although they didn't see any other dogs.

His owners tell us that he hates other dogs and will bark and lunge at them so they don't feel safe walking him anymore.

Our volunteers saw that Sergeant is clearly stressed by his current situation and he needs to be in a quieter, calmer environment without young children to stress him. A house with a nice big garden for him to mooch around in would be perfect.

Sergeant will need to be walked on a head collar to control him when other dogs approach.

No other rescue will help Sergeant because of his aggression issues towards other dogs but we believe this lovely lad deserves a chance.

If you have the time, patience and are willing to help Sergeant, you won't be disappointed.

Sergeant is such a handsome boy
