Prince - Northants

May I introduce the majestic Prince?

For once, a dog is well named. What a regal boy he is and so handsome! Prince is a real head turner, if for no other reason than his exotic breeding. He is a central Asian Ovcharka. This is not a well known breed in this country so further information is listed below.

But the truly exceptional thing about Prince is that, for all his grandeur and his haughty demeanour, Prince has the sweetest nature. He is playful and affectionate and loves cuddles. He has been well socialised in the past and used to live in a family home with children. He is a delightful boy. He is good with other dogs and is now living on a working farm, so is being introduced to livestock and poultry. He is clever enough to know that he is still on a lead but nonetheless he doesn't seem inflamed with prey drive.

However, he is very big and VERY strong, weighing between 70-75 kilos.

This is not a breed for a novice and he will need a loving owner but one that is a natural leader (and being strong would help) Having said that, he is currently being walked by a lady of no more than medium stature. Yes, she is a strong leader!

Do you deserve the privilege of owning such a magnificent dog, so well named as Prince?

FURTHER BREED INFORMATION

'Central Asian Shepherds are an extremely intelligent breed of dog. The most important step when training these dogs is to first establish leadership and a strong bond with the dog. This dog needs an owner that can handle it with a firm but loving hand. Once the dog sees the human as its pack leader, they can be trained easily with most positive reward based training methods.

The Central Asian Shepherd Dog is a large and powerfully built dog. Its legs are well-boned and muscular. Its back is broad and powerful. The dog’s head is large and its short, powerful neck has an abundance of dewlap.

Central Asian Shepherds are extremely protective and devoted to their families. They are also extremely affectionate towards children. However, they should always be supervised around youngsters as they can accidentally topple or hurt toddlers due to their extremely large size.'
