Polly - Telford

Polly is 2 years old, she has been in a foster home over 5 weeks now and has gone from just under 18kilos to 22kilos. This, in the main, is due to her having regular, good, food and treats, but also due to her being a food thief, given any opportunity!
She is absolutely adorable but is only a youngster and the fosterer is nearly seventy so struggling to cope with such a young bouncy dog. The fosterer also has a disabled old GSD who fnds Polly a little too enthusiastic.

She needs a young family who can bring her on to her full potential. Polly also suffers from separation anxiety but this is nowhere as bad as when she first arrived when her foster mum couldn't leave the room to go to the kitchen. She is also ok at being left when she is with the other dog both at home or in the car. She has to be clipped on to the seat belt in the car because she wants to see what’s going on. So now her foster mum can go off shopping, without fear of coming back to a problem.

Her main issue is that she can be dog reactive, barking and growling when she meets dogs on walks. Polly only usually reacts if the other dog reacts towards her. If other dogs are calm and friendly, Polly will walk on by.

Polly has been successfully introduced to other bitches but never to males but hopefully as her confidence builds she will not react other than to want to play and have fun.

She is a good girl and ignores pet chickens and the ducks in the garden. She maybe accepts one and all in that territory??

A little from, her kind foster home:

'We now have a family ritual – first thing in the morning, when I have my pot of coffee, I call the two of them for a cuddle on the sofa. Polly sits bolt upright staring at me until I call her up – she is so good. As I am typing this she is sitting next to me, with her head on my lap (see pic). She is a quick learner…..
Both dogs are fed at the same time, with Polly having hers inside her crate. She now waits for it to be put on the floor before starting to eat it. When she came, she ate it all before it even hit the ground!!
I so love this little girl and desperately want her to have a home where she can grow in confidence and show what she can do.'

Is Polly the girl for you?
