Odin - North East

Odin is 3 years old, neutered and sadly needs a new home due to his owner having to move location with his job and now Odin is being left for very long periods. This is not an easy decision for him as he’s had Odin since he was a puppy but Odin is not the type of dog who lounges around all day, he wants to be up and out, he’s very switched on so needs plenty of stimulation.

When our volunteer arrived she could only hear the barking from the little dogs that Odin lives with, Odin was behind a child gate as he becomes very bouncy and excited when visitors arrive. When Odin gets overly excited he does mouth and grab at sleeves, but nothing nasty just very eager to say hello. He will also jump up to get very close still mouthing a little – due to his eagerness we would not rehome him with small children as he could easily knock them over.

Odin was then taken out for a walk. He does live in a rural area so our volunteer didn’t bump into any people or other dogs. Although there was livestock around he did ignore them but this was due to him being more interested in messing about and playing whilst on the lead. His owner did say if he sees any people or other dogs he pull towards them but only to say hello. If let off the lead he would chase the livestock but owner said he never hurts them. He eventually calmed down towards the end of the walk and did sit nicely for a treat and a picture taken. Once home he was let off the lead to play in the garden with the little dogs (shih tzus), he was clearly respectful of them and didn’t put a paw wrong.

Back in the house and Odin had really quietend down and was content watching our volunteer complete the paperwork. Odin is a beautiful big lad, very friendly but also very bouncy. The visiting children love him and enjoy playing with him as he does them, but he can get a little snappy if he has something and they try to take it off him or walk past.

Odin is looking for a active home that is familiar with Belgian Shepherds and understands their eagerness, once you meet him you will absolutely love him, a little tuning with his manners, help with his resource guarding but easily achieved if he’s trained to fetch his article in exchange for a tasty treat.
