Kai - Newport Gwent

Kai - Newport Gwent

Poor Kai is an entire male of only 15 months old, but he has been through a terrible time and spent most of his short life in kennels.

Kai ended up in kennels where we think they used a catchpole on him and dragged him around, which has traumatised him. The result of this is that he doesn't like you touching his neck or collar. He was moved to a better place a few months ago where the kind staff have been working on winning his trust and they can now walk him on a slip lead or Dogmatic headcollar without any problem.

Kai also had a terrible tummy infection which went undiagnosed and untreated so when he came to the kennels in Newport, he was terribly thin and in poor condition. This has all been sorted and treated although Kai needs a special diet, but one which is not expensive. He is currently being fed on 3 meals a day of Burns fish and rice and a small amount of raw tripe. He loves this, it doesn't upset his tummy, and he has gained weight now.

Kai is a bit unsure of other dogs at first, so needs to be introduced to them properly. We are not sure about cats.

Kai needs an experienced, understanding, adult only home or certainly one where there are no young children. He just needs a kind, patient owner to help Kai gain in confidence and forget the terrible experience he has had. He knows basic commands but will need further calm training.
