Lexi in Bedfordshire

Update October 2020 - THE LOVELY LEXI has been adopted

Lexi came to our attention when we were contacted by the local pound to say that she had been found wandering on the streets. She was quickly fostered and has lived very happily in a family home for the most part. As with all street dogs she is traumatized and has 'hang ups'. She is terrified of large lorries coming towards her, which does not take much imagination to understand, given her circumstances. She was, no doubt, starved as well and is very focussed on food.

She is looking for a home where her owner will make a long-term commitment to helping her to heal and resolve her trauma. It takes knowledge of the psyche of a dog, patience and empathy to rehabilitate a dog who has gone through the horrors that she has experienced.

Having said that, Lexi appears to be a well-adjusted girl for the most part. She is cheerful and affectionate in the home. She is house trained and has basic training outside the home. Her lead work is still a work in progress, however. It is outside, where she encountered her horrors, and so this brings back memories to her. She will need time.

If you are an experienced owner who can cope with a very lively partly trained youngster, then you might be part way there. But are you also generous enough to give your time and commitment and do you have the empathy needed to help this beautiful girl to heal?

If you think that you measure up, please apply.
