Levi - Lincolnshire

This lovely boy is a super dog in many ways, but he is a challenge. He currently lives alone with a lady owner, and he has over bonded with her. If anyone comes near to her, he ‘warns them off’ by getting hold of their leg. He does this when anyone serves his owner food, for example. It is virtually impossible for her to have guests in the house. He becomes extremely agitated and spins and barks in a high-pitched bark, showing his anxiety. He is clearly distressed, in case he is supplanted or he feels that she is in danger. This behaviour is so extreme that his owner feels that she cannot live with the constraints that this imposes upon her.

It is difficult to predict how Levi will behave in any new home. He will be separated from his owner, which to him will be a bereavement and he may well shut down for some time. He could then go on to exhibit the same neurotic over guarding behaviour. In view of this we think that he would be better in a single owner household. We think normal family activity would be too stressful for him, in any event, but he could be driven to bond with one family member and protect her from the rest.

We are looking for a very dedicated, special person, who is very experienced with GSDs. Levi has had some training and he is very loving and affectionate to his owner. He has some very positive traits, and he is an outstanding boy in many respects, even apart from his gorgeous looks. But he is complex and highly strung and will demand extra dedication and empathy. He would be so worth it, though.
