Lara in Northants

Update: November 2019 - Laid Back Lara has been adopted

Caucasian/GSD cross Lara is in foster so we know her well. Her foster carer calls he the 'most laid back dog' that he has ever known. She is very happy with her current lifestyle that consists of lying around asking for a tummy rub whenever anyone is passing. She walks well on the lead and is happy with any companion dog and others that she meets casually. She only reacts to the furious aggression of the family bitch. But that is all, and who wouldn't? She also lives with cats and might do so, if the cats were very dog savvy. Having said that she could chase as well and it is probably not worth the risk in a permanent home.

The only circumstances in which Lara is not laid back is when she is guarding. Caucasians are bred to be guard dogs and Lara takes this duty seriously. She should never be in a house or garden where any stranger had open access. Anyone who adopted her would need to have a sensible protocol for supervising her with strangers. She is a friendly girl with everyone but would need to establish in her own mind that any stranger is a friend.

We are looking for a special home for this unique girl. She is so lovely that we need someone who is caring and will love her as she deserves, as well as being an experienced owner, who could keep Lara safe, when her guarding impulses might get the better of her.

Are you this special person?
