HUNTER - SURREY

Hunter has been a well loved member of his family since he was a pup but due to his need to guard his home and family there have been a couple of altercations and his owners have been asked to rehome him. They are very sad that it has come to this but they are tied by their lease so have no alternatives.

On arrival Hunter eyed the volunteer suspiously but soon relaxed and accepted her into the home . He was initially muzzled but once settled this was removed. He lives in a very quiet area so when the volunteer took him out she didn't see another dog or human. He is said to walk nicley on  a lead but if let off he comes back when he feels like it, so recall is limited and definitely will need some work.

His owners tell us that he is reactive when out but that could be lack of socialisation out in the world or the need to guard his owners. His owner also tells us that she struggles to hold and control him if he sees anything (dogs or humans) when out  He does live with 2 other dogs without issue.

He is a lovely boy once you know him, he was happy to play with the volunteer and give her lots of kisses, obviously realised what a lovely lady she was !

In short.... if you have an undersatanding of the guarding side to a GSD then this is most certainly the boy for you. He needs careful introduction around anything new, but is muzzle trained for his safety. In the home he would need a safe space when deliveries, postmen, gardeners etc are entering the property. He is certainly not a dog that you would take to the door with you. If he is managed carefully and work is put in with the outside world her has the ability to become a trteasured member of your family
