Hank - West Yorks

Hank - West Yorks

We received an email from Hanks previous owner saying she had rehomed him to what she thought was a good home back in February, but she had just received a call from the Dog Warden to say they had found Hank, he was abandoned outside a rescue centre. Sadly they were not in a position to take him back, so  contacted our rescue in hope that he would have ended up with us. Anyway, I made a few phone calls and tracked him down to a pound, I said I would happily take him on.

He’s 18 months old, his previous owner said he was boisterous and always trying to push boundaries, so they thought he would be better off with someone who had more time for him and take him to training classes.

Hank at the moment is in kennels, although kennels not the best place for any dog, poor Hank is really quiet sad and not coping very well. We have found Hank to be a strong boy on the lead, but this can be sorted no problem with consistent training and guidance, he is responding really well with us. He has been out and about with several dogs, although he is quiet vocal I would say the company of another dog maybe a girlfriend would be ideal for Hank. Although not a push over, as Hank I think could possibly try and take control. So another dog to teach him the ropes. Hank is much better in a crowd of dogs, it makes him feel much more secure.

He will need a new owner who can put some time into training him, putting boundaries in place. He’s not very keen at the vets and does need to be muzzled, but this is more due to fear. Once he feels secure with a new mum or dad, this will subside somewhat as he has been through so much in these last few months, he really does need some stability.

So if you have the experience and time to give this youngster, then come along and meet him you won’t be disappointed.
