Gori - West Yorks

Gori is a loving 4 year old female GSD x Husky. Despite a poor start in life she is always eager to please and adores people. She currently lives with 4 children (7, 6, 3 and 1) and seems to love the attention. She also appears to enjoy the company of other dogs. Gori loves walks especially on a long line as she can explore safely. On a short lead Gori pulls a lot and she is a very strong dog so this would need lots of work.

Gori is highly food driven which can make training easier, though she can snatch if not corrected. She also shows signs of resource guarding mostly with her food, growling and baring teeth if there are other dogs nearby or if she believes you are going to remove her food but can be stroked on her back while she is eating, I believe regular feeds on a tight schedule and lots of reassurance work would help her overcome that.

Due to her high prey drive Gori would not be able to live with small dogs or cats and has not yet been offlead in an open area, though her recall on the long line is excellent.
She would be better suited in a home with children older than 4 as she can be a little clumsy with smaller children by tripping over them.

Gori does have a degree of seperation anxiety and can sometimes howl when left. She is used to being left 3 times daily for upto 1 hour each time though sometimes she has been left longer. During the time she is alone for a short period she is crated and will often settle and lay down. During the longer periods she is uncrated and secured in an empty space in the house, she has previously been left for the most of around 4 hours in which time the only damage noticed was scratches on the wall and  door.

Gori would love a home where someone is home most of the time to work with her.
