Rex - Gloucestershire

On arriving at the property Rex was in a crate,

Rex has been declared as a full German shepherd but we are sure this dog is a Malinois.

Rex is 8 months old and extremely energetic, some of this could be because he is confined in a small space.

He is not yet neutered as he is too young.

When the current owner let Rex out of the crate he went into hyperactive mode and jumped over the volunteer's shoulder whilst she was sitting on the sofa.

Rex is friendly but completely full on and shows no sign of knowing any basic commands.

Rex does live with very young children but because he is so full-on with no basic training, we would suggest a home with older children only.

Rex is not aggressive with other dogs but probably needs to learn some manners on how to interact with other dogs. Puppy training classes would be ideal for this youngster. We don't know about cats but assume he would give chase.

Our volunteer took Rex for a walk with the owner and Rex was almost completely uncontrollable. Once let off the lead he was so excited he was leaping all over her and nipping at her arms with excitement.

This pup has had nothing done with him so his new owner will need to be experienced and very patient, starting with the basics and giving him discipline and boundaries.

A lovely pup with huge potential in the right hands.
