Duke - West Yorks

Update : June 2019

Duke has been with us several month now and during that time he has become less stressful around other dogs. We are able to go out walking with him and he does not react, he can now walk quiet calmly next to other dogs. He has even had a couple of smaller dogs run up near him and he stayed calm, although he does feed very much off his handler, so will need a confident owner who makes him feel safe. When going out walking in a  group we will use a halti and training lead for him, so will also clip the training lead onto his collar. He does listen to you when on the lead and loves the reassurance and attention he gets.

When in the big off lead area Duke is rather hyper and definitely needs lots of 121 training and mind games. He is very boing boing, and will have a right blast, you need to be careful he doesn’t jump up at you, although has calmed down to what he was.

When Duke is in his kennel he does not have a bed as he will destroy it, he has a few covers although shreds them and carries them around like a comfort blanket. Duke will need a home that is going to give him lots of 121 attention, but you must be patient with him and show him the way. He has never lived in a home before so he may struggle at first just give him time as he will eventually settle.

Duke is approx 18 months old and was rescued from a high kill shelter in Romania. He’s been with us a few weeks and getting a little stressed and reactive (only with Dogs) in the kennels.

He’s such a loving sweet boy, so eager to please and wanting a home and family of his own.

When out walking he has started to be reactive with other dogs, this is all down to his lack of confidence and working on the basis if I make all that noise I’ll keep them away.

We have been doing some training with Duke to help with this. He now wears a muzzle and this has helped 90%. When out in public he is much calmer, rarely reacts and getting to feel less stressed.

Duke is desperate for a home where they can continue to help build his confidence and give him the life that he deserves. You will not be disappointed he really is a stunning friendly boy.
