Dorothy - East Sussex

This gorgeous big girl is Dorothy who is 18months old and spayed

A rescue centre very reluctantly took her in due to the state in which she was being kept, she had a metal chain wrapped around her neck instead of a collar which they had to cut through with garden pliers to remove.

Dorothy is a very sweet dog, although when she first arrived she was incredibly wide-eyed and nervous but she has been nothing but gentle with all the staff looking after her in the kennels. However, they have never dealt with this breed before and upon doing some research they have come to realise they are in need of some specialist help so approached GSDR.

Dorothy has now really come out of herself as you will see from the videos. She is just a very big bouncy girl who wants to play.

Once Dorothy was signed over into their care they received a phone call from the dog's original owner, who was contacted by the man who brought her to the centre. It turns out the gentleman who brought her to them had only had her for 1 day after seeing her advertised on scumtree. The man who sold her brought her and her male sibling over from Lithuania with him when he moved to the UK for work. He has had her from a puppy and assures them that although a little timid she is a very sweet girl who has been well socialised with other dogs. He intended to work her and her sibling as guard dogs but unfortunately or maybe fortunately for Dorothy, she wasn’t very good at it. Her owner then decided she would be better suited to a home where she can be enjoyed as a pet, which he feels he cannot do.

She has melted the heart of all the staff at the centre and they are asking that we help find her a good home.

We think a semi-rural or rural home with large secured garden or land would be best for Dorothy and one without very young children simply because of her size.
