Dexter - Gtr Manchester

Dexter will be 3 years old in October this year. He started his life as a police dog but sadly last year he developed a problem with his elbow joint and was retired. He then was adopted by a couple who have had him since December and during that time have found a loving friendly boy who is happy around visitors and people, however Dexter isnt very good around other dogs and was under a trainer to try and re direct his behaviour. All was going well but now a new baby has arrived the time and continued training are less focussed and Dexter sadly needs to find a new home where they can give him the time and attention he needs. As an ex police dog he is a true ball lover and is very used to having a job and a new handler who is into obedience, agility or scent work would have the perfect dog as Dexter has the drive and definitely wants to please. Our volunteer went for a walk with Dexter, where they walked on the street to the local park, Dexter was good on the lead and was not phased by passing people/traffic etc. At the park Dexter was put on a long line and played ball and was a very happy chap, there was a dog a few meters away and Dexter didnt even look at him as he was too focussed on his ball. However we are told if a dog runs up to Dexter he would retailiate and stand his ground.
