Sam - Derbyshire

Sam has been put into emergency kennels by owners family due to her having to be rushed into hospital. Our volunteer visited the kennel and found a friendly boy who is obviously a little bewildered about being in kennels. We are told he is okay walking on the lead past people and other dogs and all in all has a good temperament. Obviously the family havent been able to give much information about Sam other than to say their mum has had him for 3 years, walks daily with other dog walkers and Sam has always been a good companion for her. Sam went into a loving emergency foster home and is now ready to find a forever home. Please read the update from foster carers below...

Sam Is very loving when our other dog isnt around, tensions can run a little high when they both want attention. Sam maybe best as an only dog, having all the attention. He is treat driven so he will, most of the time, come to you when you are offering him one.  He is getting better with having his dogmatic put on and is very good once on the lead.  He does react to some dogs but once told he settles down.  He is still barking at us when he has decided not to do something and is still grabbing our arms with his mouth.  He is very puppy like in his ways. We have had a one to one training session with a trainer we used before, she said he needs to be took back to basics, which we have done and when we have his attention he is really good.  We have done recall in the house & garden but not off the lead in the fields. Sam has been to the vets where he did get very upset and had to be muzzled. Thankfully his ear infection has cleared and he has no further medical issues. We are very happy to keep Sam here with us until he finds a suitable home.
