Dakota - South Lincolnshire

Update June 2019: Dashing Dakota has been rehomed.

Dakota should really be called Charlie and then he could be called 'Cheerful Charlie'. Above all Dakota is a happy carefree boy, typical of this particular cross. They tend to be animated, high energy and fun loving. All of this is Dakota.

He came to us from Romania where we can surmise he had a tough time. He travelled for three days, crated in a small van with one overnight kennel stay. Most dogs are shell shocked. Not this resilient boy. He arrived at his foster home smiling, sniffed around everywhere and then settled as though he had always lived there.

As he has been in foster now for several weeks we know him well. He is unsocialised with other dogs but can be friendly. He will 'stand his ground' if he feels threatened but, with more experience we are confident he would be less defensive. Socialization with other dogs is the main focus of his training needs. Regular attendance at dog training sessions, where other dogs are under control, would help him establish a more confident attitude.

Although he is good with children he does need supervision with smaller ones, as he is capable of being too rough. He is a sweet boy with no malice but has lots to learn about the niceties of UK domestic life.

Dakota would thrive in an active household. He needs to continue the training that he is receiving currently. He is still a work in progress. He would be ideal for a family with older children, as he would love to play, or accompany a jogger or compete at agility. If you want a happy energetic playmate then Dakota is the boy for you.

And we cannot fail to mention, of course, how drop dead gorgeous he is!
