Briah - Tyne & Wear

This lovely young girl is looking for a home as her present owners, although only had her a few weeks they feel that the time that is needed to educate her is a lot more than they realised and although upsetting for them, they think it will be the best outcome for Briah.

This is what our volunteer had to say about her : Briah is a very healthy and gorgeous looking dog, she did initially bark but sat straight away and took a treat very gently. Her present owners have only had her a few weeks and seem to be doing all the right things with her and taking her to training classes.

When they got her she had an ear infection and they took her to the vets, she was great in the reception room, but reacted badly when getting her ears examined. Although several dogs would do the same especially if they are in pain. Her ear infection is now cleared up and she was happy to let her owner put drops down her ears.

Briah does have a high prey drive so would not in my opinion be suited to a home with small children or small dogs, but does get on fine with large dogs. She did on one occasion chase and catch a rabbit but did let it go straight away. She loves her sticks and toys, but can show her teeth if people she does not know try to take her bone of her.

She currently lives in a very rural location so does not have a lot of interaction with other dogs, although she does live with a small poodle and a cat, both of which she tries to dominate and teases all the time. She happily sleeps in a crate and is put in the crate when there is no one in, as she can be destructive if left alone.

Briah does on occasions mouth your hand, although very gently, but something a new owner would need to be aware of.

All in all, Briah is a young dog with great potential that just needs a permanent family that will continue her training and teach her boundaries.
