Bessie - Shropshire

Bessie - Shropshire

Bessie is a 2 year old Caucasian who is looking to find a loving experienced new home as her current owners suffer ill health and cant provide the needs for this big girl. Bessie sadly hasnt been socialised but feels safe and loved in her own home. She absolutely adores her mum and is also loving with the rest of the adult family. However out on previous walks Bessie was attacked by other dogs and now she is a nervous soul around both dogs and people and prefers the sanctity of her own home rather than venturing out. A trainer has been employed to help Bessie overcome her fears and it has taken the trainer a while to gain the confidence of Bessie and they are now at the stage where she is very accepting of the trainer in her home and as long as mum goes too, Bessie will walk with her. On the lead Bessie is actually pretty good but obviously seeing other dogs/cats makes her anxious. However she is good with 2 dogs she knows and has met before. Going forward it is not going to be staightforward in finding Bessie the right home as she will need to meet you a few times and settle and obviously you will have to be up for continuing the training and confidence building.

Our volunteer couldnt really get near Bessie (think closest contact was Bessie smelling her shoes) plus when our vol handed paperwork to owner, Bessie growled and was not happy she was getting too close to her beloved mum. However we do know that if Bessie meets you a few times this behaviour stops.

Bessie hasnt met or lived with children so an adult only home with a large garden/field would be perfect for Bessie

If you think you have the time to visit Bessie, make friends prior to adoption then please have your home check in place and contact your Area Co Ordinator.
