Bert - West Yorks

Bert - West Yorks

UPDATE JAN 2018:   Bert is in foster and has settled into the home beautifully, he is clean in the house and will let you know when he needs the toilet.   He has also been fine being left,  will initially jump up to look out of the window or door but then settles back down.    He absolutely LOVES attention and affection and craves it from you asking you to stroke him or play with him so he will need a home with someone who has a lot of time to give to him.   He especially loves the ball that his foster home have bought him.      He has also met his fosterers grandchildren aged 7 and 10, and he just had a little sniff, let them stroke him and then went off and laid down.      He now wears a headcollar for his walks and although he doesn't like it being put on he will accept it and it does make it much easier to control his strength.    He has also on recent walks ignored dogs that he has seen at a distance so with time and consistent work we feel confident that this will improve further.      He is going to make a fantastic companion for a lucky home!

Bert found himself in the pound he did his 7 days and then we were asked if we could help him. He's currently in kennels and very popular with our volunteers, as he’s gorgeous. He’s a very handsome, but strong dog. He is a little anxious in kennels and will walkabout with his water bowl.

He’s very friendly and comfortable around people, he’s also very partial to a good belly rub. He’s a bright lad and very keen to learn especially for a few treats.

He’s quite vocal with other dogs, although we still need to get to know him and understand if this is just down to being unsure how to behave around them.
