Axel - West Yorks

Axel - West Yorks

Axel is 7 years old and on the lookout for a new home.  He is a friendly and well behaved dog but he suffers from anxiety so his current owners are sadly struggling to meet his needs, especially with young children in the home.
Axel was excited to meet our volunteer, He was vocal a first but gentle and soon calmed down. He is a strong boy but walks good on the lead and is good around other dogs, although he can be unsure of smaller dogs. He also gets a bit nervous around loud traffic like lorries. This clever boy has good recall, and likes to play fetch with sticks.
Axel is a lovely boy but he gets nervous when there are too many people in the home - he likes to keep a close eye on his humans. He could live with older children / teenagers.
This lovely boy would benefit from a home with an active and confident handler who can help him gain confidence. He is showing nervous behaviours such as chasing shadows, so he will need someone to spend time with him and give him plenty of mental stimulation so he does not get frustrated and anxious. Axel is such a good boy in the home, and has the potential to be a fantastic, well-balanced dog with a little guidance.
